' This is typically my genre but i found this book boring and ever so predictable. It is fun to learn about the Amish lifestyle. ' This was an amazing book and I would read it again. Don't know if I'll read the other books in the series.but I would like to know how the conflicts are resolved. The writing is very mediocre - if Jodi Picoult had this plot she would include all five books into one and leave out all the fluff. This is the first book in a series of 5 that chronicles an Amish family, their interaction with the Plain people, and secrets and dilemmas within their ranks. That said, I was about to brand this as the book with the worst ending of all time, with the most unresolved story lines, when I figured out it was only the first book in a series of five. Some of the character development is a little one dimensional, but I still found myself getting pulled in. I actually had an Amish housekeep for a while, and I felt Aimee Lilly did a fairly good job of giving her readers a feel for Amish life. I got to know the Amish people first hand when I spent several years living in North Western Pennsylvania, very near a large Amish community. ' I listened to 'The Covenant, Abram's Daughters' on cd while driving.
